Horten Ho-X with HeS011 model kit scale 1:48 or 1:72
The Ho X was a single seat, single engine fighter designed by the Horten brothers late in WW2. While their design for the Ho X (10) was not ultimately chosen for submission, the Horten Brothers ingeniously developed an aircraft that adhered to the specifications outlined by the RLM. Drawing inspiration from their ongoing work on the Horten IX (Ho 229) flying wing fighter, the Ho X was envisioned with a fuselage constructed of steel pipes covered by plywood panels in the central section, complemented by outer sections crafted from two-ply wood beams covered in plywood.
The wing design showcased a remarkable two-sweep configuration, featuring an approximate 60-degree sweepback at the nose tapering into a 43-degree sweepback towards the wingtips. Control mechanisms were planned to incorporate combined ailerons and elevators positioned at the wingtips, accompanied by drag surfaces at the wingtips for effective lateral control. The Ho X was designed to use a single HeS 011 jet engine, positioned at the rear of the aircraft and fed by two air intakes situated on either side of the cockpit.
We have deliberately chosen the FDM process to produce our models. For optimal results, the models are printed at high resolution with custom developed print profiles. This enables us to use bio- degradable materials with minimal waste and no involvement of toxic chemicals. A certain surface roughness is however inevitable. If desired, light sanding will help to improve surface finish.
For gluing, cyanoacrylate glue works well (not included).
